I actually wrote this a month ago but am just now posting it.

As I have flown back and forth from Portland these past 8 months I recently thought how fortunate I had been to never get sick during one of those trips. I recently wondered out loud what I would do if I did get sick. Then I thought it hasn’t happened the Lord has really blessed me. What I really mean by that is, it hadn’t happened other than the usual heartburn, indigestion and inability to sleep at night. Well that all changed this past week. Last Sunday evening I went to bed experiencing cold chills and a fever. I had kind of a rough night but had an early morning plane to catch, so the next morning I got up and got ready and your mother drove me to the Airport as usual and I got on the plane. Usually I read on the plane but I thought I would just rest on this trip with the hope that I would feel okay by the time I got to Portland. As the flight continued I could not get comfortable and wanted to lie down. Those seats will only lay back so far and on this particular morning it wasn’t enough. I started to think of a plan of what I would do when I got to the airport. I wasn’t even sure I could walk all the way to the baggage claim without getting sick and needing to lie down. I thought if I could get to my hotel room maybe they would let me check in early and I could lie down for several hours and then go to work a little later. Then I thought, it's a shame to fly all the way to Portland for work and then not be able to do the work, so I said a little prayer and asked Heavenly Father if it would be okay for him to give me enough strength to enable me to work through the day. When the plane landed I was well enough to walk to the baggage claim, get on the train and go to work. I was very surprised at my ability to walk through the airport terminal with no major ill effects when considering how sick I felt on the plane. I was able to work the entire day even though I did continue to experience a fever and chills on and off during the day. I basically was sick all week but not so sick during the days that I could not work. The evenings were rough and I had a fever two of the three nights. I would wake up numerous times during the night but went to bed early enough so that by the next morning I had gotten enough sleep that I was able to work the next day. I think on the second night my fever broke about 2:00 in the morning and I woke up and my throat was so sore it hurt to even slightly turn my head. I was all alone and had nothing to doctor myself up with; all I could do was pray. Actually your mother did send along with me the normal quotient of herbs, but it took a while for them to have any effect. After that night when the fever broke, I slowly began to improve. I was able to work the entire week but it was a fairly rough week. I still have a little cough and sound like a frog but I am much better. So even when we are all alone the Lord will be there to take care of us. That is one of the lessons we all must learn in this life, the Lord will always be there even during the difficult times. He always answers our prayers.
